Bill Bird - Principal

Experience

Bill is an experienced senior executive. Starting out in the RAF, where he flew Nimrods and later managed the Nimrod Software Team, he subsequently worked in management positions within the Defence Industry. He became General Manager for Rockwell’s UK Defence business, and then MD of Boeing’s UK operation.
Bill’s consulting career, with KPMG and Hedra before Moorhouse, has embraced Local and Central Government sectors. The majority of his consulting experience has been with Defence clients - where he has managed some of the UK’s largest defence equipment and transformation programmes. For other public and private sector clients, he has specialised in complex programme-related management, audit and troubleshooting. He is an adept leader and motivator of teams within such environments.

Qualifications

Bill has BA and MA degrees in Medicine, from Trinity College, Cambridge, and an MBA from Reading University. He is a Chartered IT Professional and an OGC-accredited Key Stage Peer Review Team Leader. He was awarded an MBE in 1989, whilst serving in the RAF.

Interests
Outside of work, Bill is a car and motorcycle fanatic, and enjoys restoring, riding and driving when he can find the time. He also indulges in ‘major DIY’ from time to time, and has the scars to prove it.
