Chris Barnes - Manager

Experience

Chris, finalist for the APM Young Project Manager of the Year 2009 awards, is an experienced consultant specialising in Programme and Project Management. The majority of his consulting career has been spent with Deloitte where he focused on translating business strategy into programmes of work, process improvements and technology solutions to deliver organisational objectives.

Chris’s roles and experience are wide ranging and founded on supporting delivery of large scale infrastructure investments, systems implementations and business change programmes in the public and private sector. In this capacity he has developed expertise in embedding leading edge PPM methods and tools, business processes re-engineering, business cases development, economic appraisal and benefits realisation.

Chris has spent a large proportion of his career ‘on site’ working with clients – including the Department for Transport, Highways Agency, Department for Work and Pensions and the BBC -  to define their portfolios of work, develop effective programme plans and support project delivery. In particular, Chris worked closely with senior decision makers in the Highways Agency and DfT, helping them to understand the impacts of different investment decisions and prioritise their funding allocations accordingly.  

Qualifications

Chris has a 1st class degree in economics and retains a keen interest in the subject. He is currently completing the CIMA advanced diploma in management accounting.

Interests

Outside of work Chris enjoys playing sports, sailing and diving (a handy combination in that he was recently involved in a sinking yacht incident). He recently completed the London Marathon and he aims to improve on his (less than impressive) time at the upcoming Dublin Marathon. Having recently moved into a new flat with his beloved, Chris is becoming increasingly domesticated and is now also ‘interested’ in decorating, DIY and even gardening.
