Highs & lows of providing strategic programme assurance for UK’s most large and complex programmes Public Sector programmes are becoming increasingly complex. They are often large, expensive, technically challenging and with significant cultural challenges. This threatens the delivery against Value for Money criteria and affordability and deliverability. With increasing fiscal pressures and concern about department’s reputational damage, there is an increasing need to provide appropriate governance controls and delivery assurance mechanisms. This session asks - What lessons can be drawn from the oversight roles of the OGC/NAO/HMT (especially with the recent setting-up of the MPRG) and how should programmes respond to the potential negative perceptions of unwelcome intrusion.
