Moorhouse help PMI members keep project stakeholders happy 11 June 2007 Dom Moorhouse recently presented at the Project Management Institute’s seminar on ‘Developing Project Critical Success Factors’. The event, which took place in Derby, attracted over forty senior project managers from some of the Midlands’ leading companies including Rolls Royce, and was followed by an informal networking session. Dom, the managing director of programme and project management firm Moorhouse Consulting, which was recently named in Top Consultant’s Fastest Growing Companies 2007 report, explained how stakeholder management is a critical factor and engaging people at the right levels - before, during and after programme delivery - was often the difference between failure and success. Dom told the audience: “Conventional stakeholder management over-emphasises a mechanistic, left brain view of the world. What is really needed, however, is something quite different. We call this PRIME Intelligence and it focuses on developing an attitude and approach that recognises the primacy of the political context, the complexity of relationship management and how to propagate truly memorable ideas.” Dom used a mix of best practice tools, approaches and real life case study examples gleaned from his twelve years of experience delivering successful programmes to demonstrate how managers can more effectively engage with their stakeholders. Gordon McKellar for the Project Management Institute said: “Delegate feedback showed our audience really enjoyed Dom’s presentation and his description of the tried and tested techniques used to keep stakeholders on-board were particularly beneficial.”
