Moorhouse launch new PPM mentoring service 06-11-07
Leading programme and project management (PPM) firm Moorhouse has just launched a unique new mentoring scheme for its customers.
The scheme matches Moorhouse's award-winning PPM practitioners with individual clients looking to improve their PPM capability in specific areas.
Each 'mentee' follows a structured programme of learning over a six or twelve month period, in core PPM skills such as programme governance, stakeholder management and scoping, planning and estimating. Complementary management and leadership skills are also learned, and a variety of tools such as podcasts and e-learning are available to suit individual needs.
Managing director Dom Moorhouse said he was excited to launch the scheme, thought to be the first of its kind offered by PPM specialists, and that participants were guaranteed to be better placed to deliver more effective PPM as a result.
"Employees that have experienced mentoring are usually more motivated and confident than their peers, and more likely to inspire learning and progression in others,” tells Dom. “Our clients have been asking if we could provide some sort of intensive, one-to-one learning that would sharpen the PPM skills of their managers and senior responsible owners (SROs), and we hope this is the answer.”
Keith Clark, who joined Moorhouse from Atos Consulting to lead the new iniative, said that investing in PPM capability has been proven to provide between a 15-40% return on investment to an organisation, and that pro-active schemes like mentoring helped improve companies' value and reputation.
Keith said: "Mentoring not only helps attract, retain and develop talented staff but it also impresses stakeholders and marks the business out as an organisation concerned about its sustainability and future progression.
"Offering mentoring to project managers or SROs is a great way for companies to measure their current PPM capability, spot strengths and weaknesses, and ensure their top people are masters of their own development."
Dom concludes: “Our mentees receive the benefit of all the experience the Moorhouse team has gathered over the years. The scheme is a great way of really wiring people into the current PPM environment, by ensuring they have access to latest expertise, best practice and guidance on a one-to-one basis.”
