Moorhouse lead on developing Project and Programme Management capability 22 June 2007 Moorhouse Consulting’s Bob Hendicott presented on ‘Project and Programme Management (PPM) Capability’ at one of the firm’s monthly Programme Leadership breakfast seminars at their offices in London. The event attracted senior project managers from some of the UK’s leading public and private sector organisations including Transport for London, Orange, London Development Agency, Home Office, Network Rail, Infobasis, Department for Work and Pensions, NHS and the Office of Government Commerce. Bob said that developing an internal Project and Programme Management (PPM) capability was a ‘hot issue’ for many organisations and examined the challenges of measuring and capturing PPM-focused competencies as a platform on which to focus capability development efforts. Paul Hodgkins, senior programme executive at Siemens presented a case study showing how PPM capability enhancement is managed within his organisation, where projects account for £2.5bn worth of annual business. Paul described how Siemens develop and manage the capabilities of thousands of professional project managers worldwide, and the framework and tools it uses to align capabilities to business need. Bob Hendicott, Director at Moorhouse, said: “Our delegates find these seminars excellent opportunities to share ideas with others in similar situations from a variety of organisations. Feedback shows they found others’ experiences and best practice techniques for building a meaningful PPM capability framework PPM incredibly useful.”
