Raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital

18 September 2006

 /Knowledge-Centre/Press-Releases/GOSHCC_NEW

Raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (GOSHCC), a team from Moorhouse Consulting will run and cycle for 40 hours, from Westminster towards Lands End in the Bike Run 2006 Charity Challenge.

Starting on 22nd September 2006 a team of ten (with a support crew) will set out from London and aim to get as far as they can towards Lands End by only cycling and running, over a 40 hour period.

In one-hour stages, a pair from the Moorhouse team will keep the event moving—with one person riding the bike whilst the other runs. They will alternate between cycling and running during their hour.  After an hour, the next pair will take over.

Each pair will be on the road for 8 hours over the course of the weekend. A support crew will convey the remaining team to the one hour change over position.

Dom Moorhouse, Managing Director of Moorhouse Consulting comments:

“We are all looking forward to taking on this challenge to benefit GOSHCC. The team has been training in the build up to the Bike Run 2006 and we hope to raise several thousand pounds for Great Ormond Street through our efforts. “

He continues:

“To add a competitive edge, our sponsors are guessing how far they think we will  travel in our 40 hour Bike Run.  This adds some pressure on to the team to keep the pace up, even at 4am on Sunday morning!”

The Moorhouse Bike Run 2006 team will consist of 9 men and 1 woman. As the sole woman participant , Caroline-Anne Brown, Head of Human Resources, said:

“The physical challenge of this charity event will make it even more rewarding for me, although I might be spending more time on the bike than running, as long distance running is not my biggest strength. The real challenge that I will face is spending time in a support van full of sweaty men!”
