Moorhouse Consulting Compete in Third Charity Bike Run

A team of management consultants hope to raise £15K for charity this summer with a sponsored ‘bike run’ that will see them travel 480 kilometres by foot and two wheels in just forty eight hours.

This will be the third annual ‘Bike Run’ that the team of keen runners and cyclists from award-winning programme management firm Moorhouse Consulting have completed, having raised an impressive £23K for various charities so far. 

In previous years the team have travelled west from London to Cornwall, but this year they are trying a different route, and will leave from Gretna, Scotland and take in Oxenholme, Huddersfield and Loughborough before arriving at their base in Westminster on Sunday afternoon.

Managing Director Dom Moorhouse said:  “The Bike Run is something that our whole company gets involved in, be it physically taking part, being in one of three support crews or, importantly, supporting the fundraising effort back at head office. This year we hope to raise another £15K for our chosen charities - Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity, The Alzheimer’s Society and Sustainable Futures in Africa.”

Dom said that family and friends were spurring them on by guessing how far they would travel with 48 hours.

 Dom said: “It will be a demanding physical challenge but there should be a great team spirit as everyone is keen to beat our 2006 and 2007 efforts.  Each year , the team raises the bar with this challenge and the event is all the richer for the involvement of our clients, partners, friends and family who all join in to support us.  We are confident that, with a bit of luck, that we can achieve the ambitious target of bike-running from Scotland to London in under 48 hours.

Victoria Webb, Senior Fundraising Executive at Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity said: “Last year Moorhouse raised almost £6000 for our charity and the money was a great boost to the redevelopment work taking place at the main hospital site.  We wish them good luck for this year and can’t wait to hear how they get on!”
