This paper looks at reality of delivery programmes whilst grappling with the challenges of ‘business as usual’ and in-house capability gaps.

It seeks to promote a structured way through this situation using three dimensions:

• Alignment at ‘top down’ and ‘bottom up’ thinking 
• Recognition that ‘business as usual’ itself must change
• Adoption of a consistent organisation wide approach to change management.
