What was the challenge?
The client is a FTSE 50 business and the world’s largest specialist trade distributor of plumbing and heating products to professional contractors.
To deliver a new business strategy, the company invested in a major transformation programme of its IT system landscape. This was to enable both the business target operating model and multi-channel customer engagement.
How did we help?
Moorhouse was selected to help define and mobilise the Business Transformation Programme, and subsequently provided SME support across four key capability areas; IT, Programme Management, Customer and Business Design.
Across IT, we embedded our support within the client team, providing capabilities to support the IT Director responding to the business strategy. By working in partnership with the client, we accelerated the mobilisation of the programme of work, while enabling knowledge transfer to the client team.
Within IT our work focussed around defining the IT strategy, defining the IT portfolio and designing the IT Operating Model to transition the systems to the cloud.
What was the impact?
Our support on the IT strategy and portfolio meant that the client could better understand each of the technology projects’ roles in the context of the broader business transformation. This enabled value-based decision making and better resources co-ordination across the portfolio.
We approached the challenge as a partner to the client, and shared our expertise to mature their processes, skills and capabilities. By introducing new capabilities and approaches to the client team, we helped them to deliver results efficiently and cost-effectively in a complex organisational and technical environment.
