What was the challenge?
London’s Air Ambulance is an organisation which supports patients from injury to recovery through dealing with trauma victims on scene via helicopter or by bringing the hospital out to the community by car. The technology was not working for London’s Air Ambulance as well as it could be. Critical barriers included a lack of real-time data access, limited electronic audit tracking procedure, poor utilisation of downtime through time-consuming database uploads, and manual, paper-based recording of disparate information. London’s Air Ambulance needed to harness the latest, current and emerging technology to deliver even better care for the patient.
How did we help?
Moorhouse developed a digital transformation strategy for London’s Air Ambulance which included:
- Completing a robust current state assessment, innovative future visioning, requirements capture and prioritisation exercise, informed by identified pain points in London’s Air Ambulance’s operational and clinical processes.
- Extensive analysis of current processes, split between pre-shift, during a job, and post-shift phases documented though multiple one on one interviews with clinical and operational staff, and targeted workshops to elicit challenges and potential digital solutions and aspirations of the organisation.
- Engaged with the wider NHS partners, connected to London’s Air Ambulance service, to ensure the strategic vision was aligned between core organisations including; Bart’s Health, the London Ambulance Service (LAS), and several major trauma centres and research partners.
- To help guide the eventual implementation of the digital strategy, the team identified a number tactical requirements for the transformational solutions articulating these within the strategy, and carried out an assessment of potential technologly options for these solutions to alleviate identified challenges, enabling London’s Air Ambulance to assess the best way forward and understand the complex methods of achieving their digital ambitions.
What was the impact?
The strategy enabled London’s Air Ambulance to identify both tactical and transformational technology improvement initiatives and identify funding for this It provided the organisation with a clear vision and way to orientate a complex partnerships of organisations towards a more harmonious and digitally-enabled service.
