Few organisations can ignore the opportunities for creating shareholder value offered by mergers, acquisitions or disposals. However, it is one thing to acquire a business, the real challenge is in integrating successfully to deliver the full benefits. Our Barometer on Change research identified that only 29% of organisations realise their anticipated benefits. To achieve the benefits of a transaction it is important to dedicate time and resources to integrating the businesses successfully. This requires approaching the integration with a clear scope, detailed plans and a robust governance structure to track execution.
