Moorhouse Consulting is proud to announce that it has officially launched its partnership with social inclusion charity, School of Hard Knocks (SOHK), following a firm-wide vote at the end of 2019.
The charity, founded in 2012 by Ken Cowen, provides coaching, training and mentorship for unemployed young people, and school children at risk of exclusion, helping them to tackle a variety of issues through sport. Courses offered throughout the programme teach valuable life lessons so that participants can take important steps forward and make positive contributions to society
“We are so excited to be entering into this partnership with Moorhouse Consulting”, CEO of School of Hard Knocks, Ken Cowen, has said. “We genuinely sense that so many of our respective core values are fully aligned, not to mention a shared sense of fun, which bodes well!
“Our timing is clearly impeccable – entering into a partnership just when we find ourselves in the grip of a global pandemic – but the need for our services will be greater than ever before and it is good to know we have such a wonderful bunch of people in Moorhouse who we know will have our back.”
Moorhouse Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Lead, Kate Masters, has said: “School of Hard Knocks is a great fit for us at Moorhouse. Their focus on ‘levelling the playfield’ aligns with our purpose of ‘developing extraordinary leaders’, and our ethos and values are matched. We saw this demonstrated in our first month of partnership.
“We are really excited about the opportunity to support SOHK more broadly than just fundraising and are thrilled to be partnered with a fantastic team of people who are doing such meaningful and important work. Bring it on!”
Moorhouse launched the partnership last month, taking part in SOHK’s ‘Bake or Break’ challenge which over half of the firm participated in, and a virtual sweat session led by SOHK team member and rugby star, El Snowsill. SOHK also played a key part in the Moorhouse annual (virtual) Escape week – a series of virtual activities for colleagues to connect and engage as a firm. SOHK invited Moorhouse to join their team yoga session, and also hosted a popular talk with SOHK team member and psychologist, Kate Thomson, and ex-rugby elite and SOHK Patron, Andy Gomersal.
Moorhouse also extends great appreciation to previous charity partner, Children with Cancer (CwC) UK, and everybody who got involved in fundraising activity over the affiliation period. The two-year partnership comes to a close with over £30,000 raised, and Moorhouse thanks CwC UK for continuing to support the (now postponed) 2020 London Marathon runners at Moorhouse.
