Welcome to Moorhouse’s Women in Energy podcast series, part of our campaign highlighting the experiences of women within the energy sector, both as members of the workforce and as consumers. Throughout the series, we explore the challenges, opportunities, and equality, diversity & inclusion initiatives driving progress for women across the industry.
Episode 1
In the first episode of the series, we are delighted to have Ofgem’s Jenny Boothe and RECCo’s Elizabeth Lawlor join our host Helen Richardson as they discuss the evolution of the industry, from the start of their careers, often as the only woman in the room in their early administrative roles, to now, as Head of Market-wide Half-Hourly Settlement and Chief Operating Officer respectively. In this episode we explore the power of asking questions and building your network, the power of mentorship and reverse-mentorship, and the untapped opportunity to devise policy and provide energy advice specifically with female consumers in mind.

In this inspiring podcast episode, our host Helen Richardson is joined by smart-metering guru Ro Crawford, and engineering expert Smitha Pichrikat, to discuss their passion for empowering more women to enter STEM roles within the energy sector. They delve into the meaningful impact these more technical roles can have, and emphasise the importance of strong support networks and role models in helping women navigate male-dominated environments. The conversation also explores opportunities to level the playing field for women as the renewables sector continues to evolve.
